The Australian Shepherd Health and Genetics Institute (ASHGI) was conceived and founded to provide:

Owners and breeders with accurate information on health trends in our breed;

  • Up-to-date information and progress on applicable veterinary research into hereditary and suspected hereditary issues and diseases;
  • Tools and data for breeders and owners to track and assess their pedigrees to make informed breeding decisions.

ASHGI strives to offer access to veterinary researchers, their studies, and findings that increase our knowledge of issues and diseases that can negatively impact the health and quality of life of our Australian Shepherd companions. On an international level, ASHGI works cooperatively with breed clubs, researchers, canine health foundations and organizations ensuring that breeders and owners have a central health information repository and avenues by which they can actively participate in ongoing research opportunities.

ASHGI is a 501(c)(3) organization based in California, USA
